The “Incoterms” or “International Commercial Terms” is defined as precise commercial terms, that have universal meaning for the sale of goods, published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in line with international commercial law. The seller is liable and responsible for all tasks in their country up until the goods are delivered to the carrier at the named place, usually the terminal or a warehouse (e.g. consolidation centre). Unless the named place is the terminal, the buyer will be liable and responsible for some tasks in the export country.

The seller is responsible for arranging carriage and for delivering the goods, ready for unloading from the arriving means of transport, at the named place. (An important difference from Delivered at Place Unloaded DPU.) EXW Ex Works.
